Student Grants

We are pleased to announce that a number of Student Grants will be available to support student attendance to the 2023 International Seaweed Symposium in Hobart, Tasmania in February 2023!

To be eligible for a Student Grant, it is a requirement that you are presenting in the program (oral presentation or poster). If you wish to apply for a grant, make sure you have submitted your abstract for presentation!

Student Grant applications are now open and close on 1 September 2022.

Applicants will be notified if they are successful in securing a grant once abstract acceptances are finalised.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

Two types of grants will be on offer for students to apply for:

  • Complimentary onsite registration with some additional support for travel/accommodation ($1000 USD each)
  • Complimentary onsite or online registration

The criteria to be eligible for the grants are:

  • A complete application submitted by the deadline, including all additional support documentation.
  • The student needs to be enrolled as high school, under graduate, masters or PhD student.
  • If applying for support with onsite attendance, details of financial support sought or obtained from other sources. Priority will be given to countries where limited funding options are available.
  • Priority will be given to people who have oral presentations, thus taking into consideration the quality of the Abstracts. Poster presentations will be also considered.
  • The research/study to be presented should be applied research on seaweed.
  • Consideration will be also given to the overall relevance and importance for participating in the ISS.

If you are successful in being awarded a travel grant, any expenses not covered by the grant will need to be funded through other means.
