Kunanyi/Mt Wellington

kunanyi/Mt Wellington

A visit up to kunanyi/Mount Wellington is a must see, the beautiful backdrop towering 1271 metres above the city has outstanding views.  There are many activities that involve the multiple walking tracks, mountain bike riding and playing in the snow on a winters day.  Warm up or cool down at Lost Freight café situated at The Springs, on the road to Mount Wellington. Ideal for grabbing a quick coffee or hot chocolate before you start your adventure.

Suggested Itinerary:

  • If you’re feeling adventurous, take a drive up to kunanyi/Mount Wellington, if you haven’t got a car there are buses that can take you up.  An option could be the Mount Wellington Explorer Bus, please click here to book.
  • As mentioned above there are multiple hikes along the mountain but one of my most favourite would have to be the Organ Pipes Track this walk is roughly 3 hours return and would attract some of the most beautiful views of Hobart. This walk is also kid friendly and rated at grade 3 so some bushwalking experience is recommended but not necessary.
  • After accomplishing the walk grab a hot or cold drink at the Lost Freight café or lunch at the Fern Tree Tavern and warm up by the roaring fire .
