Fluted Cape – Bruny Island

Fluted Cape – Bruny Island

Fluted Cape Track is situated on Bruny Island National Park in Adventure Bay and is one of the most popular walks on the island. This walk offers outstanding views and is a 6.3km loop (2.5hrs return) and is moderately challenging but still suitable for most ages. It’s good to be aware that the track has a hardened or compacted surface that may have a gentle hill section or sections and occasional steps.

There’s the option to shorten the walk to Grass Point (1.5hrs return) or continue on the more challenging Fluted Cape walk where you’ll get to experience the spectacular scenery of the Tasman Peninsula cliff-lines.

Suggested Itinerary:

  • Get up bright and early to enjoy a day full of adventure. The Bruny Island Ferry departs from Ferry Rd, Kettering, the ferry comes back and fourth consistently throughout the day. The trip over takes anywhere between 15-20 minutes.
  • If you’re planning on spending just the day, I’d suggest to drive directly to Adventure Bay, which is where the Fluted Cape Track begins. There is a corner store, so I’d stock up on some snacks to take with you on the walk.
  • If you wanted to stay within the Adventure Bay region, have some lunch at the Pennicott Island Cruise Restaurant and taste the quality local seafood. If you felt like different food and had some time to drive further out, roughly 15 minutes away is the Hotel Bruny Bistro in Alonnah which provides a pub vibe.
  • On the way back towards the ferry, stop off at the Bruny Island Cheese Co. Take in mind the opening hrs are from 10am – 4pm and food service stops at 3:30pm. The platters are delicious alongside there brewed cider or beer.
  • There are so many places to see and visit on Bruny Island, if you’re planning on staying the night please visit the Bruny Island Website here which will provide accommodation and activities.
